Strategic Planning Sessions — Creating a Plan in a Day
Hiring an Experienced Facilitator Will Save You Time and Money
Done properly, strategic planning sessions bring clarity and a sense of direction — both for you as the owner, and your employees.
In addition to fractional leadership services, I am also available to facilitate one-day strategic planning sessions.
In my decades of experience working with businesses in a wide variety of positions, one common denominator I have come across is the lack of a true strategic plan.
Without an effective strategy that is in alignment with the business model and vision, businesses tend to be more reactive — making decisions based upon issues, budgets, and spontaneous opportunities.
This service is a good option for any size business in any industry. I’ve worked with manufacturers, service companies, marketing firms, e-commerce companies, educational organizations, non-profits, religious groups, etc. You name it, I’ve worked with them.
The key is the right facilitator customizing the process so that you get results.
A Strategic Planning Session can be a “stand-alone” service to get results in a day, or it can be an effective way to kick off a longer-term fractional executive engagement.

Steps to Create a Strategic Plan in a Day
First, we talk on the phone to discuss the details and general needs of your company.
We then decide on a date and location, preferably offsite. We also decide on the participants and make plans to collect opinions from those not able to participate in the actual planning session.
A deposit holds the date for you.
I’ll send pre-work to help the staff start thinking about the day. Using an online survey tool that allows contributors to remain anonymous, they will be given prompts to:
When possible, I visit your location before the planning day for a tour, brief discussion, and meet key people to set expectations.
We begin the Planning Day promptly at 8:00 and go all day, typically finishing around at 4:00. Lunch will be brought into the meeting room, where we take a brief break.
Before I leave, we schedule a follow-up call for 2-4 weeks after the session.
As the plan is implemented, I am available for unlimited phone calls to help you.
